Most Romanians do not agree with Romanian peacekeeping contingents being present in turbulent regions around the world, sociological research data show cited by Rompres. According to the results 54% of the surveyed do not approve of sending Romanian military missions abroad and 46% share the opposite opinion. However, at the same time 47% of the surveyed take the side of President Traian Basescu in the dispute with Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu about the pullout of the Romanian contingent from Iraq. 44% do not back up either of the two participants in the political conflict.
