The Serbian government is giving a new orientation in the country`s economy with the investment of fifty million euro for the development of the tourism industry in the region. The amount is part of the Serbia`s National investment plan. The funds will, among other projects, be invested in the Danube tourism development, the tourist centers infrastructure and a New Belgrade – Ada gondola.Part of the money will be used to build eight new wharfs along the Danube banks, those in Belgrade and Novi Sad among them. Finance minister Mladan Dinkic announced new investments into the reconstruction of the Ponikve airfield near Uzice, which is set to serve the civilian and freight air traffic. The investment plan for tourism envisages the development of the Stara Mountain into a ski tourism center. The construction of two cable-cars along the ski tracks, over two kilometers in length, was also announced.
