Bulgaria yesterday signed a contract with a Spanish construction company to build a second Danube bridge. The project will boost cross-border trade with Romania and improve transport links with central Europe.
The €236m ($305m, £156m) bridge is the first infrastructure project backed by the European Union to get underway since the Black Sea states' accession on January 1.
